Rotaract Club of Gbagada Partners with Rotary Gbagada to Conduct Free Health Checkups and Screening

It was a 3 day Free and intensed health check-up, screening, counselling and administration exercise (October 30th to November 1st) at General Hospital, Gbagada and was carried out by the Rotaract Club of Gbagada and Rotary Club Gbagada of Rotaract District 9110 and Rotary District 9110 respectively.

The exercise had hundreds of participants tested for free (eye, malaria, HIV, blood sugar, etc ) and free set of glasses were given to beneficiaries whose condition were bad as regards their eye test result. Free counselling, and vitamin administration was given to all patients who were in need of such.
Free sanitary pad and male condoms were also distributed to all interested persons.

This exercise fulfills one of the Rotary’s 6 areas of Focus; Disease Prevention and Treatment

According to the President, Rotaract Club of Gbagada, District 9110, Rotr. Aiebee-Iberedem Nkereuwem, many people do not go for a medical check-ups, Rotarians for Family Health and AIDS Prevention (RFHA), in 2019, Rotary Family Health Days, decided to make the process easier by bringing healthcare and checkups close to the people, and make it free of charge, while going into partnership with the government and private organisations.

Speaking further, Aiebee-Iberedem said health screening is important because it has been discovered that lots of people are down with chronic diseases and health issues like high blood pressure, diabetes, hepatitis, and other killer diseases, and that the awareness is very important as it will help many Nigerians with the opportunities to know their health status.

The exercise was well planned and executed. 2020 holds another edition.
