Nigeria in general and Lagos especially has been rocked by violence related to the #EndSARS protest which started-out as a peaceful agitation against the brutality of a unit of the Nigerian police called Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). However, things really spiraled out of control on Tuesday 20th October when there were shootings at the Lekki toll gate section of the protests. What followed has been widespread violence and looting of public and private property as well as arson. The federal and state governments in Nigeria are trying to restore order and forge ahead.
One of the steps of the Lagos State Government was tweeted by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat who wrote:

This is a positive step amidst so much bad news as we hope and pray for peace in Lagos and Nigeria.
